Crystallinity of Low Molar Ratio Urea-Formaldehyde Resins Modified with Cellulose Nanomaterials

چکیده

Inherent crystalline domains present in low formaldehyde to urea (F/U) molar ratio urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins are responsible for their poor adhesion wood-based composite panels. To modify the crystallinity of (LMR) UF resins, this study investigates additional effect cellulose nanomaterials (CNMs), such as microfibrils (CMFs), nanofibrils (CNFs), and TEMPO-oxidized CNFs (TEMPO-CNFs) on modified LMR resins. First, two modification methods (post-mixing situ) were compared with TEMPO-CNFs. The TEMPO-CNFs decreased nonvolatile solid contents, while increasing viscosity gel time. However, situ showed lower than that post-mixing. Then, method was all CNMs CMFs using increased contents but lowest even though not significantly changed These results suggest these should be prevent formation

Development of melamine modified urea formaldehyde resins based on strong acidic pH catalyzed urea formaldehyde polymer

To upgrade the performance of urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin bonded particleboards, melamine modified urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins based on strong acidic pH catalyzed UF polymers were investigated. The study was conducted in a series of two experiments: 1) formulation of MUF resins based on a UF polymer catalyzed with strong acidic pH and 2) determination of the effects of increased melamine co...

Liquefied Wood as a Partial Substitute of Melamine-urea- Formaldehyde and Urea-formaldehyde Resins

Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) sawdust was used to produce liquefied wood by the polyhydric method with acid catalysis. The process was optimized to produce the highest amount of liquefied wood. Wood liquefied at 160oC for 90 min was used in the adhesion tests. The bond strength of veneer glued with ureaformaldehyde and melamine-urea-formaldehyde resins and several mixtures of liquefied wood wi...

The Effects of Adding Melamine at Different Resin Synthesis Points of Low Mole Ratio Urea-Melamine- Formaldehyde (UMF) Resins

Low mole ratio urea-melamine-formaldehyde (UMF) resins synthesized with 2.5% and 5.0% melamine levels added at the beginning, middle, and end points of the first alkaline step of the typical urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin synthesis procedure were compared with typical UMF resins synthesized with melamine additions made at the final alkaline step. Various resin analysis, particleboard preparation,...

Wetting Behaviors of Phenol- and Urea-formaldehyde Resins as Compatibilizers

Understanding wetting behavior and surface coverage of resins on a wood surface is important to obtain satisfactory adhesion and optimize adhesive application for wood composite manufacturing. Sessile and micro-droplets of ureaand phenol-formaldehyde (UF and PF) resins were generated on wood surfaces to observe wetting behaviors using three directional image generation system and atomic force m...
